Takeover specialist Valerie Stanton arrives at a rustic TV station with a plan to wrest control from its founder. Musicians Rusty and Clark Fairwood are nagged by their grandparents to start thinking about their future, but they're a surprise hit when they open for country superstars Candy & Honey.

Valerie and the Pentalode hatchet man discover an untapped energy source beneath the station, and the Channel 29 IT guy worries it will be exploited. A popular Channel 29 talk show host quits, and a staffer enlists Rusty and Clark to take over the show. Candy and Honey grapple with the paparazzi.

Candy and Honey hide from the press at Rusty and Clark’s house. Mitsy Maxine, the 16-year-old CEO of Pentalode, pressures Valerie and Harry to liquidate Channel 29. Jealous of Rusty and Clark's TV show, Bo and Joe Kowalski vow to get on the air, too.

Rusty and Clark’s popularity booms. Coco digs into Pentalode’s corrupt history to discover what Valerie and Harry are up to. Valerie orders a Pentalode scientist to interrogate the staff about the energy source. Clark goes on a date, and Honey tells Candy she's thinking about leaving the band.

Honey leaves, and Candy finds comfort in the arms of a local TV chef. To boost ratings, Valerie tries to turn the Fairwood Brothers into rap stars. Spooner stumbles upon Pentalode's plans to exploit the energy source and rip off the locals. Farnsworth is shocked to learn about the plot.
