Being the prey of a underworld ring-leader, HU MAN-WAN is assigned the job of reporting on the explosion of an ocean-liner. So he leaves for the Philippines as a smuggler. However, he is discovered by the captain of the ship. In the end, he escapes by jumping into the sea. The explosion of the ocean-liner is in fact not an accident. The captain and the crew are bribed to explode it in order to fraud insurance money. LOK KAM quarrels with the captain over money matters. Fearing that LOK will betray him, the captain tries to murder LOK who luckily escapes seriously wounded. LOK is saved by HU and is sent to the hospital where the murderer also attempts to kill him. Once again, HU saves him from the hands of the murderer and he wants to further his investigation into the case. Yet, HU cannot find LOK anywhere and he guesses that LOK has escaped to Hong Kong. So he himself also leaves for Hong Kong……

LOK blackmails KEUNG NING again and again. Feeing angry, NING makes use of LOK's girlfriend KITTY to get rid of him. Before LOK dies, he tells the truth behind the explosion to HU. LOK is killed but his dead body is nowhere to be found. HU seeks help from TSE who is a police. After much investigation, not a trace is found. HU informs the director of the insurance company the fraud . The director, HO SAM decides to look into the matter. However, under the instruction of SIN CHI KUAN, NING again tricks HO into becoming their accomplice. HU joins NING's, company and his real identity is discovered by NING who decides to get rid of him.

HU falls into an ambush and his life is at risk. Fortunately, he escapes. TSE and YING asks him to stop investigating the matter but HU insists on going on. Again HU's life is at risk but this time he is saved by TSE. MAN bribes. CHAN KONG who admits all the charges and in the end the case is closed not to the satisfaction of HU, who knows that it is KUAN who is behind the whole plot. HUNG WAI LING takes up TSE's position but }e and LI FAN are not on friendly terms. FAN even feels delighted when he learns that HUNG is in danger when carrying out their duty. TSE and CANDY meets and the two grow fond of each other. By accident, CANDY finds a rotten corpse.

HUNG is put in charge of probing into such case. HU suspects it to be LOK's dead body. With this clue, HUNG digs into the case and eventually locates the murderer of the corpse which is found to be that of LOK. In the investigation, HUNG and FAN make up and cooperate to catch the murderer, who admits the charges but reveals that he is just working under the direction of NING. However, owing to insufficient evidence, KING is still at large. AU KWOON HO expands his business in Hong Kong and in a auction sale, he outbids KUAN who feels indignant. This sows seeds of hatred. HU is again attacked by some men sent by NING who is eager to do HU away.

When HU is being attacked, he is with HUNG who joins hands with him to fight the assailants. In order to track the assailants, he even: runs the risk of endangering his life. This arouses opposition from TSE and YING. They fall out over this. HU suspects HO to be involved in the plot behind his being attacked. He and FAN try to trap HO who in the end is arrested. However, because of insufficient evidence, HO is in the end released. AU's assistant, LEE LONG, makes use of NING's traitor to do away with NING as well as KUAN and his brother MAU. HU and HUNG gradually grow fond of each other. HUNG even introduces HU to her foster father LI CHUN KWOK who leaves a very good impression upon HU.
